The Industrial Transition Accelerator (ITA) has announced that the UAE and Bahrain have joined its initiative to support green industrial projects, making them the first countries in the Middle East and North Africa to do so. This partnership aims to enhance carbon emission reduction efforts in the region's industrial sector. The announcement was made during a meeting attended by Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Technology, and Abdulla Fakhro, Bahrain's Minister of Industry and Commerce. The ITA initiative follows successful efforts in Brazil and aims to mobilize investments in emerging green industries across the MENA region. More than six industrial facilities in the UAE are aligned with climate neutrality targets, potentially contributing significantly to the country's 2030 climate goals. The ITA will collaborate with regional governments and industry leaders to facilitate investments and drive carbon reduction efforts.
