Workers at the Port of Brisbane have initiated a week-long strike, disrupting urea shipments and other break-bulk operations. The strike, part of an ongoing dispute with the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA), affects the flow of commodities such as fertilizers, steel, and vehicles. The vessel Es Dignity, carrying 32,559 tons of urea from Qatar, arrived on January 7 but is now delayed in discharging due to the work stoppage. Urea prices in Australia have risen recently, but low demand is expected to mitigate the impact of the delays on local supply. The strike coincides with similar actions at Port Kembla, where operations are also affected.
