Billet producers in the United Arab Emirates and Oman have recently increased their prices by $5 to $15 per tonne, while Iranian billets rose by $8 to $10 per tonne. This price surge is attributed to rising direct reduced iron costs and a rebound in long products. An Omani re-roller has issued a purchase inquiry for 10,000 tonnes, with local offers at $540 per tonne for January shipment. However, local scrap prices remain stable, and trade activity has slowed as mills prepare for the new year with minimal raw material stocks.
