Mexico's steel industry is gaining a competitive edge in green steel production, with 95% of its output generated through electric arc furnaces (EAF), resulting in significantly lower carbon emissions compared to the U.S. and Europe. Canacero's director, Salvador Quesada, highlighted that Mexico emits only 1.6 tons of CO2 per ton of steel, while U.S. mills emit 1.9 tons and Chinese mills 2.7 tons. This low-emission production method positions Mexico favorably in the global market, making it a leader in sustainable steel production.
