Liontown Resources has revised its production targets for the Kathleen Valley lithium project in Western Australia, reducing its annual output goal from 3 million tonnes to 2.8 million tonnes by the end of fiscal year 2027. This decision comes as the company seeks to adapt to a challenging lithium market characterized by low prices and oversupply. CEO Tony Ottaviano emphasized the need for quick adaptation to market changes, stating that the revised plan focuses on higher-margin ore while preserving expansion potential for future recovery. Liontown also aims to achieve up to AUD 100 million in cost reductions through its optimization program, with current operating costs projected between AUD 775 and AUD 855 per dry metric tonne.
