According to GMK, Kazakhstan's mining sector has seen a significant boost, with iron ore production increasing by 22% in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year.
Total iron ore extraction reached 28 million tons. While iron ore pellet production rose substantially, iron ore concentrate output declined.
The country's steel industry also experienced growth, with overall steel production up 3.6% year-on-year. Major steelmaker Qarmet plans to further expand production in 2024.
