According to GMK Center, Kazakhstan has announced an extension of its ban on the export of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap and waste for an additional six months, starting November 2. This decision, outlined in an order by the Minister of Industry and Construction on October 21, aims to bolster the domestic steel industry by restricting the export of materials such as ferrous scrap, used pipes, and railway parts. Exceptions apply for railway parts undergoing repair, requiring prior documentation. The ban, initially imposed seven years ago, continues to support local producers amid ongoing challenges from low-priced imports, particularly from Russia.
