India is developing a special stimulus package to accelerate the production of green steel, as reported by Construction World. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Steel, this initiative aims to promote sustainable industrial practices by providing subsidies for companies investing in green technologies. Key components include support for clean hydrogen and renewable energy sources, as well as the installation of electric arc furnaces. This package aligns with India's goals to minimize carbon emissions and reduce dependence on imported coal. The government plans to launch a national "green" steel mission by December, focusing on increasing low-carbon metal products in public procurement. To decarbonize existing plants, India's steel industry will require investments of approximately $283 billion.
