Glencore's Half-Year Production Report for 2025 shows a mixed performance across its various metal and coal segments. The report highlighted a 5% increase in copper equivalent (CuEq) production for the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, aided by the integration of steelmaking coal volumes from the acquired Elk Valley Resources (EVR) business. Despite this overall uplift, own-sourced copper production declined by 26% to 343,900 tonnes, primarily attributed to lower head grades and planned mining sequencing. Conversely, own-sourced cobalt production rose by 19% to 18,900 tonnes, mainly due to higher cobalt grades and volumes at the Mutanda operation. Zinc production also saw a positive trend, increasing by 12% to 465,200 tonnes, driven by higher grades at Antamina. Own-sourced nickel production was down by 7% to 36,600 tonnes, a decrease partly due to maintenance downtime at Murrin Murrin. The report also provided an update on steelmaking coal, with production reaching 15.7 million tonnes, primarily from the EVR business. Glencore has also updated its 2025 production guidance, narrowing the ranges to reflect year-to-date performance.
