Emsteel, the UAE's steel market leader, and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) have launched a pilot plant in Abu Dhabi to produce green steel using green hydrogen. The fully operational project is the first of its kind in the MENA region, utilizing electrolysers powered by renewable energy to generate clean hydrogen for iron-making processes at Emsteel. This initiative supports Abu Dhabi's Low Carbon Hydrogen Policy and aligns with the UAE National Hydrogen Strategy, aiming to position the UAE as a leader in low-carbon hydrogen production by 2031. The renewable hydrogen produced has received certification from Avance Labs and validation from Bureau Veritas.
