Egypt has been the driving force behind the increase in crude steel production across Africa in the first five months of 2024. The country’s steel output rose by 13.3% year-on-year, reaching 4.48 million tonnes, which contributed to a 5.4% overall increase in production for the six African countries reporting to worldsteel.
