Canada has implemented a 25% surtax on Chinese steel and aluminum products as of October 22, 2024. To assist Canadian businesses in adjusting their supply chains, the government has initiated a process for companies to request remission of these surtaxes. Requests will be considered under specific conditions, such as inability to source alternative inputs domestically or existing contractual obligations prior to August 26, 2024. Notably, remission will not apply to goods intended for resale in the same condition to the U.S..
