Billet offer prices have increased in China and ASEAN following a positive response from Chinese steel markets to recent stimulus measures announced by Beijing. In China, offers for 3sp 150mm billet reached $458-460 per tonne FOB early Wednesday, driven by rising domestic ex-works prices and a stronger yuan. However, no deals were reported as suppliers withdrew offers after a decline in the Shanghai Futures Exchange later in the day. Meanwhile, an Indonesian mill raised its offer for the same billet to $450 per tonne FOB for January shipments, reflecting the upward trend from China. Despite some reports of closed deals, market participants are cautious amid fluctuating prices.
