The West Virginia Economic Development Authority has approved $75 million in funding to support Nucor Corporation's new sheet mill construction in Mason County. This funding increases Nucor's total investment in the project to $3.5 billion, marking the largest economic development investment in both the state and the company's history. The funds will enhance infrastructure, including port improvements and water treatment systems, benefiting the mill, which is set to produce 3 million tons of sheet steel annually for various industries starting in the second half of 2026.
