Voestalpine has commissioned a new continuous pickling line at its cold rolling mill in Linz, Austria, supplied by Andritz. The installation includes an acid regeneration plant, acid purification systems, and silicon removal units, enabling integrated pickling and cold rolling operations.
The facility is designed to process advanced steel grades and materials for e-mobility, with a capacity of 1.8 million tonnes per year. It uses hydrochloric acid, which is nearly fully recycled, and produces high-purity iron oxide as a byproduct.
The project enhances production quality for high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel strip, targeting sectors such as automotive, appliances, construction, and electrical steel.
