The Vietnamese hot rolled coil (HRC) market is facing challenges as import prices decline amid weak demand, according to Kallanish. Last week, a deal for 10,000 tonnes of Indonesian SAE 1006 HRC was booked at $505-510 per tonne, down $5 from the previous week. Local rerollers are searching for alternatives ahead of anticipated antidumping duties on Chinese HRC, with an investigation set to conclude in early 2025. Despite some Vietnamese customers continuing to purchase Chinese HRC to avoid potential duties, prices are dropping due to low demand, with offers for SAE 1006 grade HRC heard at $488 per tonne.
