Uzbekistan's leading steel producer, Asia Metal Prof, is setting its sights on Kazakhstan for a new manufacturing facility. The company plans to invest $106.9 million in a plant located within the Taraz industrial zone in southern Kazakhstan.
This new facility will focus on the production of square billets and thin-gauge galvanized steel with a polymer coating. Negotiations between Asia Metal Prof and Kazakh authorities are already underway to finalize project details, including securing access to essential resources like energy, transportation infrastructure, and skilled labor.
Local authorities have expressed their support for the project, emphasizing the importance of adhering to strict environmental regulations during construction and operation. The land for the plant has already been allocated and secured.
The Taraz industrial zone boasts several advantages for Asia Metal Prof's expansion plans. Located in the Zhambyl region, it offers easy access to major cities and existing infrastructure. This zone has already attracted other investors, with nine projects totaling over 74.6 billion tenge currently registered.
Kazakhstan's steel industry is experiencing steady growth, with a projected 13% increase in production this year compared to 2023. This positive outlook aligns with Asia Metal Prof's strategic move into the region.
