However, production did see a week-over-week decline of 1.4% from the 1,800,000 net tons produced in the week ending August 9, 2025.
Year-to-date production through August 16, 2025, totaled 55,920,000 net tons, marking a 1.3% increase from the 55,219,000 net tons produced during the same period in 2024. The year-to-date capability utilization rate was 76.6%, a marginal increase from 76.4% last year. The production figures are broken down by district, with the Southern district leading at 795,000 net tons, followed by the Great Lakes (554,000), Midwest (237,000), North East (118,000), and Western (70,000). The AISI notes that these weekly figures are estimates and should be used to assess production trends.
