Weekly raw steel production in the United States rose to 1.754 million short tons for the week ending August 17, 2024, reflecting a 1.1% increase from the previous week’s output of 1.735 million short tons.
The capacity utilization rate also improved to 79.0%, up from 78.1%. Compared to the same week in 2023, production has increased by 0.7% from 1.742 million short tons, indicating a positive trend in the steel industry, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) .
