According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), US domestic raw steel production reached 1.754 million net tons for the week ending August 17, 2024, reflecting a 1.1% increase from the previous week. The capacity utilization rate was reported at 79.0%.
In comparison, production for the same week in 2023 was 1.742 million net tons, indicating a slight decrease of 0.7% year-on-year. Year-to-date production through August 17, 2024, stands at 55.910 million net tons, down 2.0% from the previous year.
