According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), US raw steel production for the week ending September 28, 2024, was 1.646 million net tons, reflecting a 3.6% decrease from the previous week's production of 1.707 million net tons. The capacity utilization rate dropped to 74.1%, down from 76.9%. Year-on-year, production also fell by 2.7% compared to 1.691 million net tons for the same week in 2023. Year-to-date production through September 28, 2024, stands at 66.212 million net tons, a decline of 1.7% from last year's figures12.
