The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that US domestic raw steel production for the week ending April 5, 2025, amounted to 1.656 million net tons, with a capacity utilization rate of 74.4 percent. This marks a 2.4 percent decline compared to the 1.697 million net tons produced the previous week, when capacity utilization was 76.2 percent. Year-on-year production also saw a 2.4 percent decrease from the 1.696 million net tons recorded during the same period in 2024. Adjusted year-to-date production through April 5, 2025, totaled 22.524 million net tons, reflecting a 1.4 percent decrease compared to the same period last year. Capacity utilization for the year-to-date dropped to 74.5 percent from 75.8 percent in 2024.
