US iron and steel scrap exports rose by 3.1% in October 2024, totaling 1,192,724 metric tons, compared to September. However, this figure represents a 2.9% decline from the same month last year. Turkey remained the largest importer, receiving 382,468 metric tons, also marking a 3.1% increase month-on-month but a slight 0.2% decrease year-on-year. Other significant destinations included Mexico with 201,218 metric tons, Bangladesh with 169,020 metric tons, and Taiwan with 87,779 metric tons. The total export value was approximately $502.9 million, down from $503.9 million in September and $616.6 million in October 2023.
