Ukraine significantly increased its imports of long steel products in the first four months of 2025, reaching 70.78 thousand tons, an 81.1% year-on-year rise. The bulk of these imports consisted of angles, shaped profiles, and special sections, which saw a 57.8% increase compared to the previous year.
Turkey remained the dominant supplier, accounting for 24.77 thousand tons of these products, followed by Poland and Germany. Additionally, imports of other carbon steel rods and bars surged by 91.3%, with Turkey, Bulgaria, and China contributing to the supply.
Industry analysts note that the sharp rise in imports reflects shifting trade dynamics and evolving domestic demand patterns. Market participants continue to monitor trends as Ukraine adjusts its steel procurement strategies.
