In February 2024, Ukraine exported approximately 1.06 million tons of iron ore to the European Union, accounting for 20.5% of the EU's total iron ore imports. This represented a 21.7% decrease compared to the previous month and a slight 0.5% decrease year-on-year. The revenue generated by Ukrainian exporters from these supplies amounted to €129.31 million, down 22.5% month-on-month but up 12% year-on-year. The main EU countries importing Ukrainian iron ore are Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Germany. The total EU imports of iron ore in February decreased by 15.4% compared to the previous month and by 9% year-on-year to 5.4 million tons, with import costs amounting to €698.5 million.
 The European Union's imports of iron ore from Ukraine increased by 13.4% year-on-year to 2.42 million tons in the first two months of 2024, with import costs rising by 24.4% to €296.23 million. The largest importers of iron ore in the EU are the Netherlands and Germany.
In 2023, the EU increased imports of iron ore from Ukraine by 3.7% compared to 2022, making up more than 18% of the total imports of iron ore to the EU, as GMK reported.
