According to the State Customs Service, in January-April 2024, Ukraine's steel enterprises increased revenues from ferrous metal exports by 16.6% year-on-year to $959.76 million.
Ferrous metals accounted for 7.14% of total export revenues in the first four months, compared to 6.18% in January-April 2023.
In April 2024 alone, revenues from ferrous metal exports amounted to $207.26 million. Meanwhile, Ukraine increased imports of similar products by 25.8% to $454.03 million in January-April 2024, with imports worth $131.17 million in April.
However, Ukraine reduced exports of steel products by 8.1% to $306.98 million in January-April 2024, exporting $77.11 million worth in April. Steel product imports increased by 47.2% to $326.39 million during this period, with $92.39 million imported in April.
Ukraine exported 1.78 million tons of rolled steel in 2023, down from 2.47 million in 2022 and 8.34 million tons in 2021. Imports reached 1.18 million tons last year, compared to 621.6 thousand tons in 2022 and 1.12 million tons in 2021.
