In September 2023, Ukrainian steel companies significantly increased their pig iron exports by 44% compared to the previous month, reaching 125.89 thousand tons. The monetary value of these exports rose by 5.3 times month-on-month, amounting to $49.7 million.

This recovery follows a period of reduced exports due to unfavorable market conditions in the EU, which is the primary market for Ukrainian pig iron. Despite the increase, the export volumes are still lower compared to the same period in 2022.
