The United States and Mexico have not confirmed the exclusion of Brazilian steel from new tariffs, despite earlier assertions.
Two weeks ago, the U.S. announced a 25% tariff on Mexican steel exports not melted and poured within the USMCA region. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador stated that Brazil would be exempt from these tariffs, but U.S.officials have remained silent on the matter.
Reports indicate that U.S. industry remains uncertain about the exemption, with no official confirmation from Washington, leading to confusion among steel importers regarding compliance and potential impacts on trade with Brazil.
