Turkish rebar prices experienced a notable drop during the latter half of April, falling from $570 per metric ton to $537 per metric ton EXW. This decline was driven by reduced scrap costs, which reached a three-year low, and a decrease in buyer requests.
Despite bearish market conditions, some producers attempted to raise prices. Kardemir, a major Turkish steel mill, offered rebar at a $7 per ton increase compared to March but managed to sell only 11,000 tons, highlighting the challenging market environment.
Turkey's rebar exports surged by 35.7 percent in the first two months of 2025, totaling 768,200 tons, with Yemen being the primary destination. However, shipments to Yemen ceased in April, contributing to additional supply in the domestic market.
