In July, Turkey’s steel exports reached a record high value of $1.4 billion, marking a 24% increase year-on-year. This surge was driven by strong demand from the European Union. Mediterranean-based Turkish steel producers saw a significant rise in exports, with a 171% increase to $259 million.
Notably, exports to EU countries like Italy and Spain grew substantially, despite existing quotas. The higher steel production in Turkey also contributed to this export growth. Industry leaders expect the market to remain buoyant in the fourth quarter.
