Turkey has significantly increased its imports of steel billets from Ukraine, rising by 2.9 times year-on-year in the first half of 2024. This surge is attributed to improved export conditions from Ukrainian seaports and a recovering Turkish steel market.
In the first six months, Turkish steelmakers imported approximately 40,650 tons of billets from Ukraine, reflecting a strong demand despite a general decline in overall billet imports. This trend highlights Ukraine's growing role as a key supplier in the Turkish market amidst ongoing economic shifts.
