In the first half of the year, Turkey’s scrap imports reached 9.95 million tons, marking a 3.6% increase compared to the same period last year. The value of these imports also rose by 4.8%, totaling $4.24 billion. This growth highlights Turkey’s ongoing demand for scrap materials, driven by its robust steel production industry.
The United States remained the leading supplier, followed by the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, which saw significant increases in their export volumes to Turkey. This trend underscores the strategic importance of scrap imports in supporting Turkey’s industrial activities.
