Thailand is considering extending anti-dumping duties on boron-added hot rolled steel from China. The government plans a five-year extension of existing tariffs, citing ongoing dumping practices. A public hearing is scheduled for September 1st.
Local steel producer Sahaviriya Steel Industries requested the review, claiming that Chinese imports are harming domestic production. The proposed duties would range from 14.28% to 19.47% on specific Chinese steel mills. However, some exports may be exempt from the tariffs.
China has been a major supplier of boron steel to Thailand, but imports have declined in recent years.
