Taiwan's industrial production index in April 2024 decreased by 5.6% compared to March, but increased by 14.6% year-on-year. The seasonally adjusted industrial production index rose by 0.5% month-over-month and 12.8% year-on-year.
In April, output in Taiwan's basic metal manufacturing sector fell by 4.5% and metal product manufacturing decreased by 2.8%, both compared to the previous month. On a year-on-year basis, basic metal manufacturing output declined by 4.4%, while metal product manufacturing increased by 9.1%.
Production in Taiwan's machinery and equipment industry grew by 8.2% year-on-year in April 2024. The automotive industry also saw a 0.4% increase in output compared to the same period last year.
