The Suez Canal Authority has announced a 15% discount on transit fees for large container ships, effective for 90 days starting May 15, 2025. The measure aims to encourage major shipping lines to resume using the canal amid improving security conditions in the Red Sea.
The discount applies to container ships with a net tonnage of 130,000 tonnes or more, whether laden or empty. Officials emphasize that the initiative is designed to support global trade and reinforce the canal’s role in international logistics.
