The unit price index of steel in Malaysia experienced a decline of 0.1% to 4.6% in December 2024 compared to the previous month, according to the Statistics Department. The most significant drop was recorded in Perak at 4.6%, followed by Tawau at 2.3% and Sandakan at 2%. In contrast, the unit price index of cement remained stable, with annual comparisons showing an increase of 0.1% to 2.8% across most regions, particularly in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, and Negri Sembilan, which saw the highest rise at 2.8%.
