The African Development Bank has approved a $150 million concessional loan to the National Industrial and Mining Company (SNIM) in Mauritania. This funding will enable SNIM to acquire up to 36 locomotives and 1,743 wagons to improve iron ore transport to the port in Nouadhibou. The loan represents nearly one-third of SNIM's $467 million budget for expanding logistics capacity, aiming to double railway transport capacity by 2030. The project also focuses on climate change adaptation and the development of higher-value products, contributing significantly to Mauritania's economy.
