Brazilian iron ore producer Samarco has updated its timeline for restarting pellet plant number three, which has been idle since a dam collapse in November 2015.
Initially expected to resume in Q1 2025, the restart is now anticipated for September or October 2024.
Samarco currently operates only one of its four pellet plants, and the restart will restore 60% of its production capacity, adding 7.8 million mt per year to the existing 9 million mt from plant number four. An official announcement is expected soon.
