Salzgitter Group, along with its subsidiary Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH, has received official approval from the German Military Technical Center 91 for its SECURE 500 steel grade. The certification covers thicknesses from 6 to 16 mm and allows the steel to be used in military vehicles and protective systems.
The SECURE 500 steel underwent rigorous testing for weldability, ballistic resistance, and blast durability. It features a quenched and tempered martensitic microstructure, offering high hardness and dimensional precision. This approval strengthens Salzgitter’s position in the defense sector and aligns with its broader strategy to support European security through advanced steel technologies.
The company is also pursuing certification for additional grades in the SECURE product family to expand its defense offerings.
