In the first half of 2024, Russia experienced a significant decline in stainless steel production. The output dropped by 15.5%, amounting to 108,800 tonnes. This decrease is attributed to a reduction in domestic consumption, which fell by 15.5% to 451,000 tonnes. Additionally, imports of stainless steel decreased by 15.6% to 357,000 tonnes, and exports saw a decline of 16.7%, totaling 15,000 tonnes.
The downturn in production and consumption reflects broader economic challenges and shifts in market demand. Industry experts are closely monitoring the situation to assess the long-term impacts on the Russian steel industry.
