Posco has partnered with the Korea Expressway Corporation Research Institute (KECRI), the Korean Recycled Construction Resources Institute (KRCRI), and Hyundai Steel to utilize steel byproducts in highway construction. The agreement, signed on December 18, aims to establish quality standards for steel slag aggregates and promote its integration into highway asphalt. Steel slag, a byproduct of steelmaking, offers higher strength than natural aggregates. With increasing demand for durable asphalt paving amid a shortage of natural aggregates, this initiative supports a circular economy and enhances sustainability in construction practices.
