Poland has introduced a comprehensive action plan aimed at ensuring the sustainable development of its steel sector. The initiative addresses key challenges such as high energy costs, environmental compliance, and competition from subsidized imports.
The plan proposes reforms in public procurement to prioritize environmentally responsible suppliers and limit access for non-EU producers that don’t meet similar standards. It also includes a ceiling price of €60/MWh for energy-intensive industries, supported by a compensation mechanism to offset market fluctuations.
Additional measures involve reducing network fees and enhancing domestic production competitiveness through targeted support. The strategy reflects Poland’s commitment to aligning its steel industry with EU climate goals while safeguarding economic viability.
