Russian steelmaker MMK Group reported a 2.6% year-on-year decline in crude steel output for the first half of 2024, totaling 6.35 million metric tons. This decrease is attributed to reduced demand and rolling mill repairs.
However, the second quarter saw a recovery, with crude steel production rising 13.7% quarter-on-quarter to 2.65 million metric tons. Pig iron production also increased by 1.7% year-on-year to 5 million metric tons, supported by shorter repair durations at its blast furnace.
