Malaysia's Ministry of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI) has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into wire rod imports from China, Indonesia, and Vietnam, following complaints from local producer Southern Steel. The investigation will focus on wire rod classified under specific HS codes, as evidence suggests increased imports have harmed the Malaysian industry. Indonesia was the largest supplier, exporting 120,000 tonnes from January to July 2024, while imports from China and Vietnam also saw increases and decreases, respectively. MITI did not specify the duration of the investigation.
