European stainless steel prices have continued to decline due to unusually low demand and reduced production. As of December 6, 2024, the monthly price assessment for stainless steel cold-rolled sheet, 2mm, grade 304, delivered in North Europe, fell to €2,550-2,600 per tonne, down from €2,600-2,650 on November 1.
Market sources report that the demand for stainless steel has been exceptionally weak, with some traders unable to find buyers. The alloy surcharge for grade-304 material also decreased, reflecting the overall market downturn. Despite the reduced output, the influx of cheaper imports from Taiwan and Indonesia has further pressured prices. The market outlook remains uncertain, with hopes for a demand recovery in early 2025.
