Kyrgyzstan's cabinet has announced a temporary ban on the export of ferrous metal scrap and waste to countries outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) for six months. This decision, aimed at preventing shortages of raw materials for local industries, affects exports to non-EAEU nations.
The Ministry of Economy and Trade previously proposed this ban to ensure a stable supply for domestic processing enterprises.
The ban follows earlier restrictions first imposed in January 2022 and extended multiple times, reflecting ongoing efforts to support the local steel industry amid rising demand for scrap metal.
