In August 2024, Kazakhstan's metallurgical enterprises reported a 7.3% increase in steel production compared to the same month last year, reaching a total of 341.94 thousand tons. However, this figure represents a 3.6% decline from July 2024.

During the same month, production of flat products was recorded at 190.77 thousand tons, marking a significant drop of 23.4% month-on-month and 13.7% year-on-year.

For the period from January to August 2024, steel production in Kazakhstan rose by 9.4% compared to the previous year, totaling 2.78 million tons, with flat products output increasing by 24% to reach 2.03 million tons.

In 2023, Kazakhstan saw a notable overall steel production increase of 16.4%, amounting to 3.92 million tons, although flat products production fell by 3.6% to 2.45 million tons.

Looking ahead, Qarmet plans to boost its steel production to 3.5 million tons in 2024 and increase iron ore concentrate output by 10%, while coal production is anticipated to decline by 2%.
