Kazakhstan's government has extended the ban on exports of semi-finished products, scrap, and waste for another six months, effective from early this week. The restrictions will apply to semi-finished products starting in May, while the scrap export ban was implemented last week.
In 2024, Kazakhstan exported 286,724 metric tonnes of billet and bloom, 88,180 metric tonnes of slab, and 46,960 metric tonnes of scrap. The initial ban on semi-finished products, covering items under codes 7206 and 7207, was introduced for six months starting December 1, 2024.
The extension of these restrictions continues Kazakhstan’s efforts to regulate exports amid changing market conditions and domestic production needs.
