In June, direct reduced iron (DRI) production in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) reached 5.27 million tonnes, a 3.2% decrease from May but an 8.3% increase compared to June 2023.
Egypt was the only country in the region to see growth. For the first half of 2024, MENA's DRI output rose 5.5% year-on-year to 26.61 million tonnes, accounting for 48.2% of global DRI production, which totaled 10.93 million tonnes in June, according to Kallanish
