Jindal Shadeed Iron and Steel (JSIS) stands out as a prominent integrated steel producer in the Arabian Gulf, specifically located in Sohar, Oman. With a substantial investment exceeding $1.6 billion, JSIS has focused on capacity expansion, backward integration, and the acquisition of Sohar Steel.
This strategic approach has propelled JSIS to become the largest steel producer in Oman and one of the top three in the GCC, boasting an impressive annual production of 3.2 million tonnes of low carbon intensity steel.
The cutting-edge port-based facility of JSIS has a remarkable capacity of 2.4 million tons, solidifying its role as a key player in Oman's rapidly developing industrial sector. The company's integrated setup includes a Jetty and utilizes state-of-the-art DRI-NG-EAF-VD technology to ensure the production of clean steel.In the current year, JSIS is set to inaugurate three new facilities, namely a new Oxygen plant, Submerged Arc Furnace, and a 6 million TPA Pellet unit.
These additions will elevate JSIS to one of the most integrated steel plants in the region. Notably, JSIS is distinguished as the sole mill in the GCC equipped with a Vacuum Degassing facility, enabling the production of a diverse range of steel grades.
